What shapes the price
- Size of the dog, which changes both the water and the drying time.
- Thickness of the coat, because a double coat takes much longer to dry through.
- Whether a de-shedding shampoo or conditioner is used.
- Anything extra, such as ear cleaning, nail clipping or paw balm.
- Whether the visit is at a salon, a home studio or a mobile van.
- How muddy or sandy the dog is when it arrives.

Good questions
Before you begin.
How often can I bathe my dog?
Most dogs are comfortable with a bath every four to six weeks. Dogs with skin problems may need a different pattern, so ask your vet.
Will a bath get rid of sand and salt?
A proper bath rinses both out of the coat. Salt and sand left in a coat can irritate skin, so a rinse after beach days helps between visits.
Is a bath and brush enough for a poodle cross?
Usually not for long. Curly coats mat quickly, so a bath and brush works best as a top-up between full grooms.
Can my dog be bathed if it has a skin condition?
Tell the groomer first and follow your vet's advice. A medicated shampoo may be needed, and some conditions are best managed by the vet.
